EPISTEMOLOGY IS OUT // UPDATES ON XOFY2 // MAX'S REVIEW BLOG // PROGRESS ON K.U.

EPISTEMOLOGY IS OUT

Nupela Masalai's third improvised album, Epistemology, has been released. The first record featuring Liam Fenton, it transitions from Nupela's former albums into a fuller garage-influenced group sound, setting the stage for the rest of the season. This album deals with the nature, grounds, limits and validity of knowledge, love, and music.  Check it out here.

XOFY2

After the success/non-failure of XOFY's first project, XOFY2 is officially happening. The theme this time around is going to be "shitty keyboards," in which participants will be asked to craft an EP focal-pointed with keyed instruments of low quality or value (both sentimental and monetary). The clock will start ticking November 3rd, and anyone interested should consider getting involved. We're all learning and generally have little-to-no idea what we're doing anyway.

We also sorta figured out what the hell we're doing here: XOFY is going to be a monthly event. Each instalment's theme will be posted on the first Sunday of each month, and all submissions will be posted the following Sunday. Participants will be asked, in the span of that week, to create an EP in accordance with that month's theme and the other guidelines of XOFY (ie adherence to the naming scheme; writing, recording, production, mixing and mastering all within a 36 hour period; etc.). For a full list of suggested guidelines, please see the XOFY page here. We hope you all participate!

MUSIC IS PRETTY GOOD

Our neighbour Max is starting up a blog to post some music reviews. We've begged him to offer some insight, critique, and opinion on some of our past and future releases. We'll keep you apprised of his latest reviews, for you to check out if you're feelin' it, which will be at your disposal to further your experience or analysis of M+HN releases. For his first post he's tackling XOFY1.

PROGRESS ON K.U.
Although nothing can be said for certain at this time, M+HN has made progress in acquiring the rights to Kingston Underground, the historic local punk compilation, and is hoping to re-release it with updated mastering and cover art sometime before 2014! You folks should be excited, because this album and the people behind it were hugely influential on our music back in the day.

As of yet, all tips as to the whereabouts of Kingston Underground members have been falsified or hearsay, save one anonymous reader's kind submission. Our diligent follower was able to point us in the direction of Sodomy in the Jungle's guitarist. He's been living in a rural Ontarian village north of Kingston since his band violently dissolved at their final show to now. Effort aside, he has tentatively agreed to offer information as to the whereabouts of the collective's leader, from whom M+HN hopes to acquire the rights to K.U.'s seminal punk compilation! M+HN is hoping to send some people to have tea with him and see what information we can get.
